This course is designed to provide advanced studies in 911 Communication and Operations for a 911 Telecommunicator. Topics include appropriate telecommunicator response to situations such as terrorism, active shooters/active assailants, missing or exploited persons, human trafficking, suicidal callers, domestic violence, and high-priority/low-frequency emergency events, and identification of strategies that support telecommunicator mental and physical wellbeing. Upon completion, students should be able to define and describe terrorism, active shooter, missing and exploited children and persons, human trafficking, suicide intervention involving callers, domestic violence, and critical incidents, and the telecommunicator's roles when these incidents are presented in the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP).

EME-3500A Emergency Dispatch
This course is designed to prepare individuals for employment within an Emergency 911 Telecommunications Center. The course provides the foundational functional skills of operating within an Emergency 911 Center. Course work will include instructor led lecture, hands on experience with console and card sets, and opportunities to participate in real time scenarios while learning essential multi-tasking techniques. The Emergency Telecommunicator Course (ETC) is a 40-hour program produced by the IAED and is designed to train new employees unfamiliar with emergency communication centers, emergency telecommunication technology, interpersonal communication, legal issues, and job stress factors. The Trauma Life Support Course is designed to increase the knowledge and skill level of the emergency medical technician in assessing and treating any trauma-related injury. Much of the material in this course is not covered in the initial EMT or EMT-1 course. It is designed for the student to better recognize possible trauma injuries due to mechanism of injury, better assess the patient and more aggressively treat shock and trauma in general.

EMS-3105A PALS Instructor
American Heart Association's Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Course is an intensive course for instructor candidates who have already successfully completed the PALS Provider Course. The PALS Instructor Course uses a variety of teaching methods and adult learning principles in an environment that will mimic a real healthcare setting (eg, back of an ambulance, emergency department bed). From an educational perspective, the closer the simulated emergency is to a real-life case (eg, setting, equipment), the better the transfer of skills. Cognitive, psychomotor, and some affective domains will be accomplished through small-group teaching and case scenario practice on a manikin as a Team Leader and team members and the use of large- or small-group short video presentations with instructor-student interaction. Pre-requisite's include current AHA PALS Provider card and completion of AHA PALS Instructor Essentials Online course. This in-person course is one of the final steps to becoming an AHA PALS Instructor. Upon completion, the candidate must be monitored within the following 6 months.
