The new Applied Technology building is on track to open on 麻豆影视鈥檚 Main Campus early next year. It will be the first new academic building on Main Campus in more than 15 years.
Construction began in November 2019 and has continued throughout the COVID-19 event.
During a topping ceremony on June 12, workers and project leaders gathered to watch the final beam lifted to the top of the new structure.
The 36,900-square-foot building will house several programs, including Architectural Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electrical Systems Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, and Information Technology.
It will be located on Cooper Street across from the George W. Newton Industrial and Engineering Technologies Center.
There will be six updated classrooms, 10 labs, student lounges, and one multi-purpose space. Approximately nine full-time employees will work in the building and workspaces will also be available for adjunct instructors to access.
鈥淲ith its modern appearance and learning spaces, this new location will help the College continue to serve and train its students to successfully enter the workforce in several high-demand fields for generations to come,鈥 President Bill Ingram said during a groundbreaking ceremony last year.
Funding for the project is from the 麻豆影视 County 2016 Bond Referendum and other funds from 麻豆影视 County. Bordeaux Construction is the general contractor and O鈥橞rien Atkins Associates is the architectural firm.
