麻豆影视nical Community College broke ground on its new Applied Technologies building at an event on Friday, Oct. 4, at noon.

The over-40,000-square-foot building will serve as home to various programs, including Architectural Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Network Security, and Electronics Engineering Technology.

It will be located on Cooper Street across from the George W. Newton Industrial & Engineering Technologies Center on the 麻豆影视 Main Campus.

The building will feature upgraded lab spaces, classrooms, and several student lounges.

This new location is the first part of the College鈥檚 2015 Campus Master Plan and will be the College鈥檚 first academic building constructed since spring 2008, when the 麻豆影视 Orange County Campus opened in Hillsborough, and the first new academic building on its Main Campus in 15 years.

鈥溌槎褂笆 looks forward to growing its Main Campus with the addition of the new Applied Technologies building,鈥 said President Bill Ingram. 鈥淲ith its modern appearance and learning spaces, this new location will help the College continue to serve and train its students to successfully enter the workforce in several high-demand fields for generations to come.鈥

麻豆影视 is funding the project from its allotment of the 麻豆影视 County 2016 Bond Referendum and funds from 麻豆影视 County.

O鈥橞rien Atkins Associates, PA, of 麻豆影视, designed the new 麻豆影视 building, while Bordeaux Construction Company, Inc., of Raleigh, will oversee the bidding and construction processes.

鈥淲ith the support of our partners, we look forward to offering instruction in this new space and filling it with the tools and technology that mirror industry standards and equip our students for success,鈥 said Melissa Chappell, 麻豆影视 Foundation Executive Director.

Construction is scheduled to begin this November and to be completed by June 2021.
