Fall 2024 was rough, y'all. The Library ran out of both loaner laptops and calculators within the first weeks of class and, we were operating on a waitlist for the whole 16 weeks. We hated it as much as you did.

THANKFULLY, we're mostly great now and ready to check out Chromebooks and loaner calculators to those who need them thanks to our NC DIT Digital Champion Grant which will allow us to buy more and refresh our current circulating Chromebooks AND purchase additional TI-84 graphing calculators for our MAT students.

We're still working on processing more PC laptops for those students who need them for IT classes, including our multiple one-term CIS 110 borrowers. Soon! Also soon? Info about our "keeper" Chromebook program for loaner laptop borrowers.

As a reminder, to borrow equipment from the Â鶹ӰÊÓ Library--either Main or Orange County--you'll need a library account and a photo ID (preferably your student ID, but any photo ID will do). You're welcome , but we can also register you when you come to get your library technology.

Loaner Laptops (Chromebooks and PCs)

ANY CURRENTLY ENROLLED STUDENT IS ELIGIBLE TO REQUEST A LOANER LAPTOP. Library staff will verify enrollment and confirm pickup and due dates with the student once an application is submitted. Students can apply using the link on the OR on the Computer Assistance page on the Â鶹ӰÊÓ website.

Some PC laptops are available for students in classes that require downloading specific programs to complete assignments for specific courses. Unlike Chromebooks, which may be renewed if a student is continually enrolled between summer, fall, and spring terms. All Chromebooks come back to the library for inventory and general maintenance in May.

Loaner Scientific and Graphing Calculators

We've expanded our TI-84 graphing calculator inventory and also added TI-30 scientific calculators. Any student currently enrolled in MAT 143 or above at Â鶹ӰÊÓ is eligible to request a TI-84 for the term of their MAT class. All students are eligible to request to borrow a TI-30 for the entire term or a TI-30 or TI-84 for one day to two weeks. Library staff will verify course enrollment once an application is submitted. Students can apply using the link on the OR reach out to their MAT instructor to apply.

Calculators do not renew and must be returned at the end of the term.

Tech Tools

The Â鶹ӰÊÓ Library has a variety of Tech Tools available for checkout, including video and digital cameras, headphones and headsets, webcams, DVD players, tripods, ring lights, and a variety of cables and cords (both for in- and out-of-library use).
